With no one on my team your heartbeat
Came knocking and knocked me off my feet
Your pennies took by thieves your running genes
Ain’t stopping understandably
You once told me I’d regret, it hasn’t happened to me yet
So maybe I’m immune to your hundred yards of sad
Maybe I’m immune to that disease you thought you had
But you never learned how to speak, to me
And after a while a smile is not a smile
And kisses turn to tears
Oh oh oh, Oh oh oh
When you bought your past you bought many too heavy
And lumbered to defeat
When you paint you scrawl, and when you speak you drawl
Ill at ease to understand at all
You once told me I’d lament
We drew partitions in cement
I guess I took it hard, but I said I’d persevere
I guess you heard me say that, I guess that hurt to hear
But you never learned how to speak, to me
And after a while a smile is not a smile
And kisses will turn to tears
Oh oh oh, Oh oh oh

I've listened to the original edition of this so many times and never tire of it. The vocal style, harmonies, and songwriting are mindblowing. Can't pick a favorite song so I'll just go with the one that's in my head most lately. Definitely recommend the CD. Looking forward to listening to their other stuff. Some guy

I'm working back through Bitter Ruin's career and am delighted to find this album and other rarities available here.
I hate to label musicians unless it leads to genuine understanding and these guys defy categories with ease, grace and shared pleasure. Nicholas Taliesin Barrett
